For a variety of reasons only two First Division games were played on Saturday with three of the top four teams in action.
After their cup exploits of the Previous week New Quay were brought down to earth being well beaten by a Maseglas team that turned in an excellent all-round performance. From the moment that the experienced Chris Jones gave the home side an early lead the result was never in doubt. Phil Furney with a good individual effort added the second with Darren Williams netting the third before the interval from a Llifon Howell corner. In the second half Lee Perkins deservedly pulled one back for the visitors before skipper Williams put the result beyond doubt with his side's fourth following good work by Michael Diggle. In keeping their faint championship hopes alive Aberaeron made heavy weather of their win over a depleted Llanybydder side. After an opening period when clear cut chances were at a premium the homesters opened their account on twenty six minutes when a deflected Louis Hunt shot gave keeper Richard Hopson no chance. It was not until the second half that James Hemming added their second before the visitors pulled one back through Chris Lovell who, at the end of a three man move netted the best goal of the game. This spurred Llanybydder to further stretch the home defence but their hopes were finally shattered when Simon Bray added Aberaeron's third to clinch the points. |
